Print Sizes and Locations

Front Locations

Front placement is one of the most common — and most important — parts of any custom apparel design. Depending on the shape and style of your artwork, front prints may range from subtle left chest graphics to full front designs that make a bigger statement.

The right size depends on proportion, not just maximum width. Some designs look best centered and bold, while others are more effective with a cleaner, more understated placement.

Adult vs Youth Sizing

Because youth apparel has a smaller print area, the same “Full Front” design used on a youth small may appear closer to a “Center Chest” placement on an adult XL. In other words, artwork can look very different depending on the garment size it’s printed on.

Back Locations

Back prints offer additional space for larger designs, team names, sponsor logos, or statement graphics. Whether it’s a full back print, upper back detail, or name and number layout, placement should always match the purpose of the garment.

Not every design needs to fill the entire space — sometimes strategic sizing creates a cleaner, more professional look.

Legs & Shorts

Printing on shorts, sweatpants, or joggers requires thoughtful sizing and placement due to smaller print areas and garment movement.

Leg graphics are typically more compact, but that doesn’t mean they should be overlooked. The right placement can create a polished, athletic, or branded look without feeling crowded.

Embroidery

Embroidery offers a clean, durable, and professional finish, often used for left chest logos, hats, sleeves, and other premium placements.

Because embroidery uses stitching rather than ink, size and detail matter. Designs may need to be adjusted slightly to ensure clarity and quality at smaller scales.
